Welcome to Loyola Village

Choosing an elementary school is selecting the cornerstone experience for your child’s education. At Loyola Village Elementary School and Loyola Village Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Center, we strive to provide your child with a strong academic and social foundation. Our goal is to motivate, nurture and challenge your child to fully develop his/her potential. Our student body reflects the rich diversity of our great city, and students gather on our beautifully landscaped campus to share their talents and put forth their best effort each day. Students express their uniqueness through the arts and discover a love of learning t hrough engaging hands-on lessons in the core subject areas.

Our students learn the six pillars of Character Counts — trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. These pillars reinforce ethical values and teach self-discipline. Our collegial faculty and staff embrace the concept of a professional learning community, and our families partner with us to enrich our curricular program in a welcoming, creative and caring environment.

We invite you to share in the Loyola Village family experience!

SCHOOL-WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT THROUGH CHARACTER COUNTS!

TRUSTWORTHINESS, the 1st pillar of Character Counts, is our theme for this month.

Shinrai the Camel poster is for K, 1st, and 2nd grades, and the trustworthy traits activity is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. These materials will encourage valuable family conversations about promoting good character.

2008-2009 SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT CARD

State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a School Accountability Report Card (SARC). The purpose of the SARC is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school and for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The SARC for the 2008-2009 school year was presented at our Compensatory Education Advisory Committee and English Learners Advisory Committee meetings on February 17th, and it will be presented to our School Site Council on March 8th.

English and Spanish copies of this report are available in the main office or through the Inside LAUSD web site, at http://www.lausd.net. On the LAUSD homepage, scroll across the top navigation bar to Schools and click on Find A School. Choose Loyola Village ES and click Search. Find Academic Performance Indicators, and click on SARC in the drop-down menu to access the summary page. To see the full report, click on the full School SARC.

SAFETY: In March 2010, specially trained personnel will return to our school to check on the condition of any asbestos-containing building material. A copy of the inspectors written report will be included in our asbestos management plan, which is available in the main office.
