THE ARTS ARE ALIVE AT LoVE
Loyola Village is dedicated to the arts! Both our traditional and Magnet Center campuses introduce students to an extensive arts curriculum. Some of our highlights include:
- LAUSD Arts Program Banner School, “Soaring to new heights through the arts,” May 2011
- Each grade level receives instruction in two arts areas, 15-week unit
- Visual Art instruction for all 1st – 5th Grades, two standards-based lessons each month
- Taught by published children’s book illustrator
- Orchestra, 75-members, 3rd, 4th, 5th Grades
- Weekly class with traveling music teacher
- Violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone
- School owns over 20 orchestral instruments, plus rhythm instruments for K, 1st, 2nd
- Guitar lessons for all 3rd Grades and Recess Guitar Club for 3rd, 4th, 5th Graders
- Ballet Basics for all 2nd Graders, 10-week unit
- Kindergarten – “Great Artists” projects and weekly sing-along lessons
- African Drum and Dance Ensemble, established Fall 2005
- After-school STAR enrichment class, beginning and intermediate levels
